High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU)

About HIFU

How does HIFU work?

HIFU uses focused ultrasound energy to target the deep layers of your skin (subcutaneous) without harming the superficial layers. The ultrasound energy causes the tissues to heat up rapidly. Once the cells in the targeted area reach a certain temperature, they experience cellular damage. This damage has no side effects and actually stimulates the cells to produce more collagen. The increase in collagen results in tighter, firmer skin with fewer wrinkles. This treatment takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on the treatment area. You may experience a slight discomfort during a HIFU procedure. Some people describe it as tiny electric pulses or a light prickly sensation.

What areas can be treated?

HIFU can be treated in most areas that have fat, sagging or loose skin. HIFU can also be treated on all skin types, even people who have a suntan. HIFU can be treated on the face and neck, upper arms, thighs and stomach area.

How many HIFU treatments will I need?

Although you can see a difference even after one treatment, we recommend treatment onceevery 2 months for face/neck and once every month for body areas such as arms, legs andstomach to maintain results.

What will happen after treatment?

Immediately after the treatment, you may experience mild redness or swelling, which will gradually recede over the next few hours. You will feel some tightness in your skin. You will see the maximum results of the HIFU treatment two months after treatment.

Is it painful?

Some may experience a slight discomfort during the HIFU procedure. Some people describe it as tiny electric pulses or a light prickly sensation. Areas such as the face line and forehead may be more sensitive. Anesthesia or numbing is not required.
