About SkinMedica Chemical Peel

How does SkinMedica Chemical Peel work?

SkinMedica Chemical peels address the visible skin imperfections that result from aging and sun exposure, such as fine lines and wrinkles, uneven skin tone and texture. Chemical peels also address skin tone unevenness that can be caused by acne scarring or pigmentary changes. Chemical peel can also overall brighten your skin. The treatment takes about 45 minutes to complete.

How many treatments will I need?

Multiple treatments may be required to achieve desired results. The number of treatments is based on the initial level of skin damage. On average we recommend about three to six treatments, once every 4 weeks for the best results.

What areas can be treated with Chemical Peel?

SkinMedica Chemical Peel treats areas of the skin with skin issues such as sun damage, hyperpigmentation, rough skin, acne or acne scarring. People usually have chemical peels done on areas such as the face, back and buttocks.

What will happen after treatment?

Chemical Peel may have a downtime of up to two weeks. Immediately after treatment, it can leave a yellowish tinge on your skin which is expected to last no longer than 3 hours. Mild to moderate redness is expected after any type of chemical peel procedure. The extent of redness varies from patient to patient. After 2-5 days after treatment, a mild peeling of the skin may occur. During downtime, please be sure to keep the area moisturized and wear lots of sunscreen.

Is it painful?

Although this procedure is not painful, some people experience a slight tingly feeling and may experience discomfort due to the strong smell.
